Zoya - Bubbly Collection

*PRESS SAMPLE*

Hi, friends. Today I'd like to share Zoya's new Bubbly collection. This collection features six fun, sparkly, vibrant colors just perfect to wipe away the summertime blues. Here's a peek:
Alma (three coats)

From thumb to pinky: Binx (two coats), Jesy (three coats), Staasi (three coats), Muse (two coats), Harper (three coats)

As you can see, for some of these, I applied two coats, some, I felt, necessitated three. However, they are all really beautiful and though I hate having to apply a third coat, they were fairly easy to work with and dried relatively quickly. Alma was a little bit goopy but it wasn't a huge deal.  I like to think of these colors as "Gellies" (glitter + jelly).  Fun, fun, fun!

China Glaze - Thistle Do Nicely

*PRESS SAMPLE*

Today I'd like to share a really fun, vivid, neon pink from China Glaze.  Feast your eyes:
Two coats of Thistle Do Nicely, no top coat.

I've been noticing something lately that really surprises me. I'm actually becoming a "pink" fan! Now, don't get me wrong, blue still has my heart and probably always will but I'm definitely becoming more enamored with pink, lately. This one is certainly no exception.

Thistle Do Nicely applied smoothly and easily and dried to a satin-y almost matte finish which I loved. I know people suggest applying a coat of white polish under neons to really make them "pop" but c'mon, you know me, the fewer steps, the better. This was simply two coats of "Thistle", no base, no topper, and it came out looking really awesome, if I do say so myself. Definitely a winner in my book!

China Glaze - Pastels and Glitter

*PRESS SAMPLE*

For this post, I used three new shades from China Glaze, two creams and a glitter, namely Spring in My Step, In a Lily Bit and Don't Be a Flake.  First up, the creams:
For this pic, I used three coats of In a Lily Bit on my thumb, middle and pinky fingers and two coats of Spring in My Step on my index and ring fingers.

As always, I've got to be honest, I wasn't overjoyed with these polishes.  If you're not new here, you know that I am not a fan of having to use more than two coats of any polish and In a Lily Bit definitely required three for opacity.  Both polishes were a little challenging to work with and ended up looking a bit patchy. Such a bummer.  I added an accent nail of Don't Be a Flake, as you can see here:
One coat of Don't Be a Flake added to ring finger.

Unfortunately, this hexagonal glitter was also tough to work with.  It took a little dabbing to get the glitter somewhat evenly dispersed, which is a real shame as the colors are so pretty.  Perhaps with a bit more practice, I could get it applied better but it was a bit goopy.

Overall, I have to say, this is not the best I've seen from China Glaze.  While the colors are pretty, I had a frustrating time with application.

Evolution of a Beauty Blog

Hi, friends!  As you can see, I have changed the title of the blog from Got Polish to Butterfly's Landing.  With the name change comes a change in direction for the blog.  Well, not a change, exactly, more of an expansion.  Along with the nail polish posts that I hope you have come to know and love (or at least be mildly fond of), will come posts about other beauty/makeup/feel-good items and some, perhaps, more philosophical posts on what defines beauty.

I hope you will stick around for the ride and hell, tell your friends!

With the name change comes a brand spankin' new facebook page so please, stop by and like it HERE.

Thanks, all!  Onward and upwards we go!

FingerPaints - Dream I Can Fly, Crystal Springs, A Pink of Pixie, Springtime Bloom

Today, I'd like to share four new colors from FingerPaints. First up, two creams, Dream I Can Fly and Springtime Bloom.  Feast your eyes:
I used three coats of Dream I Can Fly on my thumb, middle and pinky fingers and three coats of Springtime Bloom on my index and ring fingers.

These are really pretty creams but, sadly, required three coats for full opacity.  If you know me, you know that I'm NOT a fan of having to apply three coats.  Three coats, for me, generally means a thick finish that I am more than likely going to dent or smudge before they fully dry.  I'll do it, if necessary, but I really prefer being able to get away with just two.  I added a coat of each of the sparkle top coats to the ring fingers of each hand.  Pics up next:
One coat of Crystal Springs added to ring finger.

One coat of A Pink of Pixie added to ring finger (and a rare peek at my right hand.  Woo hoo!)

These sparkly toppers were a bit chunky and challenging to apply but quite pretty.  Definitely a fun spring-y look!

Zoya - Dot and Cole

Press Sample

Today, I'd like to share Zoya's Dot and Cole.  Here's a peek:
I used two coats of Dot on my thumb, middle and pinky fingers and two coats of Cole on my index and ring fingers.  I really liked these creamy polishes.  Great formulas, great coverage, lots of fun for spring into summer.  Really, nothing negative to speak of.

Coming Soon - FingerPaints Poolside Paradise Collection

Check out these upcoming beauties from FingerPaints.  This is the Poolside Paradise Collection, coming in June.  SOOOO excited for these!!
Are you into this foil-y type of polish?  I know I am!  Can't wait to see them in person.

FingerPaints - Mistful Thinking and Shower with Flowers

PRESS SAMPLE

Today, I'm featuring FingerPaints' Mistful Thinking and Shower with Flowers.  Take a peek:
I used three coats of Mistful Thinking and added a topper of Shower with Flowers on my ring finger.  Mistful Thinking was really patchy after two coats, thus necessitating a third coat to approach opacity.  It was strange, too, as it dried to an almost matte finish.  I actually liked it but it was unexpected.  Shower with Flowers, featuring multi-sized glitter, was a nice extra on my ring finger.  I'm excited to try it over other colors.

Overall, the color of Mistful Thinking was a real hit.  The "almost" matte finish was as well (as long as one is prepared for it) but sadly, the formula was a bit of a challenge.  If one is willing to expend the effort to apply three coats, it might be worth a try.

Shower with Flowers is a fun, unique topper.
